ITINERARY |
Day by Day programme
Day 1
Transfer to CONGONHAS. Visit to Bom Jesus dos Matosinhos Sanctuary that houses a Basilica with the famous 12 prophets of Aleijadinho and Passos chapel. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to TIRADENTES. Overnight at Pousada do Largo.
Day 2
Breakfast. City tour of Sao Joao del Rei and Tiradentes. Arrival to Sao Joao del Rei and visit to Sao Francisco de Assis church and a panoramic tour of the city. Lunch is included. After that, return to Tiradentes and visit Santo Antonio church, Padre Toledo Museum and San Jose Fountain. Depart in the same day to OURO PRETO. Arrival at Solar da Opera. Overnight.
Day 3
Breakfast.
Today enjoy a Half Day Tour of Mariana with Gold Mine visit. MARIANA, also known as the “Enchanted City”, it was founded in 1696 and was for a short time, the capital of Minas Gerais. The town originally called the “Royal Village of Our Lady of Carmel” received its present name “Mariana” in 1745 in honor of the Queen Maria Ana. On this tour we will walk down the picturesque streets to see houses that date back to the beginning of the 18th century, with balconies of wood, iron and soapstone. In Minas Gerais Plaza, we will visit the St. Francis of Assis Church known for its richly sculpted door, the Our Lady of Carmel Church, the City Hall and the Pillory. Following with the tour, we will visit the Passagem Gold Mine, the oldest gold mine in Brazil. Then we will make a stop for lunch. In the afternoon we will take a Half Day Walking Tour of Ouro Preto. Ouro Preto's name means "Black Gold"; a reference to the black coloring of the gold mined in the area caused by the iron oxide in the soil. The visit includes the Mineralogy Museum, Sao Francisco de Assis Church, the Theather and Casa dos Contos.
Day 4
Breakfast. Transfer to Belo Horizonte. End of services.
