Just 50 miles north of Salvador lay the small welcoming village of Praia do Forte. The vibrant colors of the local flora… the miles of white sandy beaches and the endless turquoise blue water are enough to keep you mesmerized for days. If you can manage to pull yourself away from this inspiring view of the Atlantic Ocean, past the fort that gave the town its name, is Project Tamar, the conservation center for the giant sea turtles that nest at Praia do Forte. After a memorable day, it was a dinner in the village followed with local music, laughter and of course relaxing in the giant hammock that overlooked the garden at our hotel.
