Prior to his career in travel, Adam G. Carter studied abroad in Europe and Latin America, and received his MBA in International Marketing from NYU (spending a semester in Rio de Janeiro at UFRJ/ COPPEAD). Afterwards he spent several years in New York on Madison Avenue in the advertising industry, honing his skills in product development and promotion. Looking to combine his love of travel and marketing, he left advertising and in 1984 opened Brazil Nuts Tours, a company dedicated to creating innovative special interest tours. Under his direction, Brazil Nuts Tours became recognized as a leader in such key travel segments as Ecotourism, cultural tours and corporate meetings and incentives. His love of Brazil and passion for tourism led him to explore the country widely, making his company the first to offer destinations, itineraries and properties off the beaten track. In 2007 Adam was elected Chairman of the Brazil Tour Operators Association, the leading association of travel companies selling Brazil in the US, whose members represent 90% of all package tours to Brazil sold in the US.
With a professional background in the arts, health and education, Maria Luisa Carter received her Masters in Education from Southern Connecticut University. Her varied professional experience, multi-cultural background (born in Brazil, studied in Europe), and her ability to connect with people from all over the world make her a key part of Brazil Nuts and Destination Partners. As Commercial Director, Maria Luisa is responsible for identifying client's needs, matching them with programs and opportunities and delivering the optimum travel experience for our clients. Given her rich background, Maria Luisa has special interest and expertise in programs relating to the African Diaspora, education, and community service, thereby adding a unique dimension to our offerings.
I have been in the travel industry for almost 20 years, of which 06 years have been dedicated to working at Brazil Nuts. My primary responsibility is operating and overseeing group travel, especially large institutional programs for universities and corporations. I have the opportunity to travel with some of the groups throughout South America and lucky enough to have traveled to the Amazon several times, escorting a group of 120 students on a 3 day Amazon riverboat expedition.
I was born and raised in Sao Paulo, where I was accustomed to outdoor activities in the mountains.
Therefore, my favorite destinations in Brazil are: The Chapada Diamantina in the state of Bahia (Lencois)! It is a great eco-destination and completely unlike anything else in Brazil and Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, in the state of Minas Gerais.
Sales & Support Supervisor
Being born and raised in the mid-west I moved to Florida in 1999 needing some cultural diversity. I soon realized how much of the world I was missing, and became fascinated with the idea of experiencing other cultures. Brazil Nuts has given me just that opportunity. I have explored Rio de Janeiro, Paraty, Salvador da Bahia and Praia do Forte. I have also spent 6 days and nights exploring the Amazon and its many diverse lodges. My most recent adventure led me to the majestic Iguassu Falls and an incredible trek thru the Northern Pantanal. I am looking forward to sharing my impressions and experiences with prospective travelers and helping to make it a "once in a lifetime" experience for all.
Sales & Product Manager
A proud travel industry professional, I was born and raised in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, and have been involved in tourism all my life. At the age of 18 I moved to Gibraltar UK to learn about the hotel industry and perfect my English skills. Returning to Curitiba, Brazil, I graduated with a Degree in Tourism at University of Parana and immediately started my career in the challenging area of incoming travel services. Starting in 2005 as a Travel Consultant for a major South American tour operator, I had the opportunity to explore in depth varied countries like Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay as well as my own Brazil. Now, as a part of the Brazil Nuts Tours' creative team of travel consultants, I aim to develop new and exciting products within South America. I’ve recently traveled in Brazil to the Southern Pantanal, Iguassu Falls, historic cities of Minas Gerais, Buzios and nowadays working from the Brazil Nuts office in Rio de Janeiro.

Sales & Operations Support
Since I was a child I have loved travelling, and have visited many parts of Brazil. Later on I had the chance to spend time in Germany and France, and spent a year in London, where I met my (now!) husband. Born and raised in Sao Paulo, I graduated in Business Administration, and have joined the Brazilnuts team as Operations and Sales support, providing backup on the Admin side for our clients based in the Brazilnuts office in Rio de Janeiro. I love cooking and trying new dishes, enjoy rollerskating and most of all, living by the beach! My future travel plans include Argentina, Scandinavia and the North of Brazil.

After spending a semester abroad in France and traveling around Europe as well as China, she decided to couple her love a traveling and exploring culture with a Master of Arts in Comparative and International Development Education, focusing on International Education Exchange. This education, along with four years of experience working in the hospitality industry, has led her to the travel industry and Destination Partners as an Operations Account Executive. She looks forward to helping others gain travel experience and cultural knowledge as well as expanding her own travel experience to include South America!
It's difficult for Julia Kasid to pinpoint when her passion for traveling really took hold. Perhaps it was a high school trip to Turkey, working toward her Business Management degree in London, or interacting with the children at an orphanage in Tibet. Wherever the beginning lies, the path of it has already taken her through 19 countries on 6 different continents. She came to believe in the rich potential of travel to teach and shape those that choose to step out into it, and so began a new passion - helping others explore and experience life abroad. She is excited to work with Destination Partners to do just that and hopes that your travels, wherever they may take you, open up whole new worlds.
