Prior to his career in travel, Adam G. Carter studied abroad in Europe and Latin America, and received his MBA in International Marketing from NYU (spending a semester in Rio de Janeiro at UFRJ/ COPPEAD). Afterwards he spent several years in New York on Madison Avenue in the advertising industry, honing his skills in product development and promotion. Looking to combine his love of travel and marketing, he left advertising and in 1984 opened Brazil Nuts Tours, a company dedicated to creating innovative special interest tours. Under his direction, Brazil Nuts Tours became recognized as a leader in such key travel segments as Ecotourism, cultural tours and corporate meetings and incentives. His love of Brazil and passion for tourism led him to explore the country widely, making his company the first to offer destinations, itineraries and properties off the beaten track. In 2007 Adam was elected Chairman of the Brail Tour Operators Association, the leading association of travel companies selling Brazil in the US, whose members represent 90% of all package tours to Brazil sold in the US.
I have been in the travel industry for 17 years, working in leisure travel, receptive tour operations and previously served 7 years in Corporate Travel at American Express. After moving to Naples I was honored to join Brazil Nuts and I have been an associate with the agency for 4 years now. My primary responsibility is handling group travel, especially large institutional programs for universities and corporations. I'm a Paulistana from Sao Paulo, but really prefer the outdoors over the big city. In my job I am lucky enough to travel all over Brazil (how about escorting a group of 120 students on a 3 day Amazon riverboat expedition!). But my favorite destination in Brazil? The Chapada Diamantina in the state of Bahia (Lencois)! It is a great eco-destination and completely unlike anything else in Brazil. Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, in the state of Minas Gerais, is another favorite of mine.
Being born and raised in the mid-west I moved to Florida in 1999 needing some cultural diversity. I soon realized how much of the world I was missing, and became fascinated with the idea of experiencing other cultures. Brazil Nuts has given me just that opportunity. I have explored to Rio de Janeiro, Parati, Salvador da Bahia and Praia do Forte. I have also spent 6 days and nights exploring the Amazon and it's many diverse lodges. My most recent adventue led me to the majestic Iguassu Falls and an incredible trek thru the Northern Pantanal. I am looking forward to sharing my impressions and experiences with prospective travelers and helping to make it a "once in a lifetime" experience for all.
