Tours and Services Restrictions

During Carnival the city will experience certain tour and transfer restrictions:

The following tours will not be operating from Friday to Thrusday (sib or private)

- Secrets of old Rio

- Petropolis tour

- Guanabara Bay

- Rio by night

The following SIB tour will not be operating from Friday to Wednesday (private will be available)

- FD Corcovado and Sugar Loaf tour Sib

The following tours will stop operation one week before carnival, and will resume about 6months before carnival.

- Carnival Behind the Scenes (Cidade do Samba)

- Rio by night at Cidade do Samba

During carnival days - Friday to Wednesday, there will be No Sib tours of any kind, available in the afternoons, only in the mornings.

Brazil Nuts hospitality desk during carnival

We will offer a hospitality desk office at a hotel in Copacabana, available to guests during carnival days, within easy access from most hotels in Rio. This desk will offer general information, optional tours and will deliever tickets and constumes.

Modified Historical City Tour Description for Carnival period: Thursday - Wednesday

Due to carnival much of the city will be closed to vehicular traffic. This implies in re-routing the course of our traditional Historical City Tour. We extend the tour to include a visit to the Mercado Modelo

Itinerary: Hotel pick and drive to the Pelourinho via the Tororo lake where the wonderful sculptures of the orixas are to be seen on the tranquil waters of the lake. Continue to the Pelourinho and begin the walking section of the tour. Church opening hours will be effected due to carnival. We stroll through the streets of the old section of town completely bedecked in carnival decoration. There is little or no carnival activity during the mornings. The bands of strolling players that provide the carnival entertainment in this part of town begin in the afternoon allowing a good glimpse of the traditional carnival, very different from the other more frenetic parts of the city.

Continue on foot to the Municipal Square with a wonderful view of the bay. From here it's a short elevator ride to the bustling Mercado Modelo, the ever popular market for local souvenirs and handicrafts. Return to hotel :
