Pele arrived in Rio de Janeiro to visit his father when he was 10 years old with the idea of helping him on his new job as a beach vendor on the sands of Ipanema. Together they spent the whole day selling snacks and drinks under the hot sun.
After years walking up and down the sands of Ipanema, they decided to build a fixed tent on the beach right in front of Garcia D'Avila Street, on of Rio’s hot spots… and that’s when their popularity took hold. Their tent became a famous "point" and they receive people from all over Rio and the world.
A real Sport lover, Pele decided to study Physical Education and today, besides being a beach vendor (his tent offers all types of drinks, snacks, and sandwiches) he also has Volley Nets which he gives daily classes of beach volleyball.
For those who choose that "point" of Ipanema to enjoy the marvelous sun of Rio, you can count on chairs, umbrella rental, a shower and a friend who will make your stay in Rio more enjoyable.
