Adam Carter

President

adam@brazilnuts.com

Prior to his career in travel, Adam G. Carter studied abroad in Europe and Latin America, and received his MBA in International Marketing from NYU (spending a semester in Rio de Janeiro at UFRJ/ COPPEAD). Afterwards he spent several years in New York on Madison Avenue in the advertising industry, honing his skills in product development and promotion. Looking to combine his love of travel and marketing, he left advertising and in 1984 opened Brazil Nuts Tours, a company dedicated to creating innovative special interest tours. Under his direction, Brazil Nuts Tours became recognized as a leader in such key travel segments as Ecotourism, cultural tours and corporate meetings and incentives. His love of Brazil and passion for tourism led him to explore the country widely, making his company the first to offer destinations, itineraries and properties off the beaten track. In 2007 Adam was elected Chairman of the Brazil Tour Operators Association, the leading association of travel companies selling Brazil in the US, whose members represent 90% of all package tours to Brazil sold in the US.

Travel Consultant

I have been in the travel industry for almost 20 years, of which 06 years have been dedicated to working at Brazil Nuts. My primary responsibility is operating and overseeing group travel, especially large institutional programs for universities and corporations. I have the opportunity to travel with some of the groups throughout South America and lucky enough to have traveled to the Amazon several times, escorting a group of 120 students on a 3 day Amazon riverboat expedition.
I was born and raised in Sao Paulo, where I was accustomed to outdoor activities in the mountains.
Therefore, my favorite destinations in Brazil are: The Chapada Diamantina in the state of Bahia (Lencois)! It is a great eco-destination and completely unlike anything else in Brazil and Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, in the state of Minas Gerais.

Being born and raised in the mid-west I moved to Florida in 1999 needing some cultural diversity. I soon realized how much of the world I was missing, and became fascinated with the idea of experiencing other cultures. Brazil Nuts has given me just that opportunity. I have explored Rio de Janeiro, Paraty, Salvador da Bahia and Praia do Forte. I have also spent 6 days and nights exploring the Amazon and its many diverse lodges. My most recent adventure led me to the majestic Iguassu Falls and an incredible trek thru the Northern Pantanal. I am looking forward to sharing my impressions and experiences with prospective travelers and helping to make it a "once in a lifetime" experience for all.

A proud travel industry professional, I was born and raised in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, and have been involved in tourism all my life. At the age of 18 I moved to Gibraltar UK to learn about the hotel industry and perfect my English skills. Returning to Curitiba, Brazil, I graduated with a Degree in Tourism at University of Parana and immediately started my career in the challenging area of incoming travel services. Starting in 2005 as a Travel Consultant for a major South American tour operator, I had the opportunity to explore in depth varied countries like Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay as well as my own Brazil. Now, as a part of the Brazil Nuts Tours' creative team of travel consultants, I aim to develop new and exciting products within South America. I’ve recently traveled in Brazil to the Southern Pantanal, Iguassu Falls, historic cities of Minas Gerais, Buzios and nowadays working from the Brazil Nuts office in Rio de Janeiro.
